Digital Doctor Electronic Repairs

Repair risks

Electronic repairs are unpredictable. A device can turn out to be beyond repair, or be permanently damaged during the repair.

Devices with glued-on screens, like iPads, have to be pried open. We’re very experienced and the risk is small, but the glass can crack or break while we open it.

Face ID and Touch ID on Apple devices can stop working during a repair. It isn’t common, but it depends on the device’s condition.

Circuit boards wear out over time and can fail without warning, especially after liquid damage, when parts can short, oxidize, corrode and rust.

Estimates

We’re thorough, but some problems only show up once work has started, so an estimate isn’t always final.

If the estimate needs to change, we’ll tell you as soon as possible, and we won’t go any further until you approve it.

Your original estimate always stays valid for the work it originally covered, though we may tell you that work is no longer needed or unlikely to fix the problem.

Warranty

Every repair carries a 60-day limited shop warranty. If an issue from your original work order comes back within 60 days, we’ll do the repair again at no extra charge.

All parts we use are guaranteed for 60 days from the date of service.

New problems that aren’t related to the original repair or symptom aren’t covered.

What the warranty doesn’t cover

We don’t offer any warranty or guarantee on:

  • Repairs using parts that weren’t bought through Digital Doctor Repairs
  • Software issues, such as virus removal or installing an operating system
  • New symptoms that aren’t directly tied to the original repair
  • Installing new hardware or modifying existing hardware during the 60-day warranty period
  • Damage caused by the user: drops, crushing, extreme temperatures, spills or liquid, electrical damage, or viruses and malware
  • Devices that have been tampered with or damaged after our repair, such as cracked screens, dents, damage that wasn’t there before, opening or modifying the device, or charging with non-original cables

Manufacturer warranty

Some of our services may void your device manufacturer’s warranty. By accepting service, you agree we aren’t liable for that.

Warranty repairs

If your device fails within 60 days of getting it back, and the problem is related to the original work order, we’ll repair it again for free. If it’s unrelated, we’ll tell you the cost before doing anything.

We don’t give refunds before we’ve had a chance to re-attempt the repair, so we can check the claim. If we can’t fix it, we’ll refund you minus the repair-attempt fee and return shipping.

For a warranty repair, you ship the device to us and we cover the return shipping.

Turnaround

We work on devices as soon as we can, in the order they arrive. Many repairs are done in 1–48 hours, but we can’t guarantee how long any repair will take.

Any repair times on our website or in our ads are best estimates based on experience, not promises.

Parts

If your repair needs a part, we’ll contact you before ordering it to explain what the part is, why it’s needed, what it costs and roughly when it should arrive. Shipping is out of our hands, so arrival dates are a best guess.

If you’d like to keep your device while you wait for the part, we require a non-refundable deposit of 50% of the part cost.

We generally don’t use parts we didn’t buy ourselves. If you supply your own part, the repair has no warranty (beyond anything the part’s manufacturer offers), and you waive liability for damage caused by a faulty or incompatible part.

Repair-attempt fee

Most motherboard repairs, data recovery jobs and devices that were previously repaired elsewhere carry a repair-attempt fee of $40–$100. It applies if the repair or data recovery isn’t successful, or if the device had been worked on before, to cover our time.

Shipping

We ship your device back following the instructions on your mail-in form.

If you don’t ask for insurance, any damage in transit is your responsibility, not ours.

Devices sent in a generic box are more likely to be damaged; if you send yours in a generic box, it comes back in a generic box at your own risk.

If you provide your own prepaid label, add insurance to it yourself. We can’t insure pre-purchased labels.

Your data

We take every precaution to protect your data, but we can’t guarantee it and aren’t liable for data lost during service.

If we know a repair could affect your data, we’ll tell you what might be affected and offer to back it up for an additional cost.

Please back up anything important before you drop off or mail in your device.

Pickup & storage

Storage space is limited. We hold devices for up to 60 days after we contact you to pick up.

After 60 days without hearing from you, the device is considered abandoned: we may sell it to recover the cost of service and parts, or recycle it if it doesn’t work.

If you need longer, contact us to arrange storage. It costs $40 per month.

Payments

We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, JCB, Diners Club, UnionPay and PayPal.
